Captain Phill Harris in Medically Induced Coma Following Surgery
Feb 2nd, 2010 by admin
Just a quick update as there is still not a lot of information being released. However we know that all of you have been following this very closely and that Phil and his entire family are in your thoughts and prayers.
Following his stroke it has been revealed by sources close to the family, that Phil Harris was placed in a medically induced coma following emergency surgery. This was help to reduce swelling of the brain as well as aid in his recovery and is not unusual following such critical surgery. The surgery itself is reported as taking around 12 hours, which is quite extensive although no further details are yet available.
Officially the latest statement from the Harris family is thanking all of you for your support..
“Josh and Jake Harris thank everyone for their heartfelt thought and prayers. The ‘Deadliest Catch’ community has always been more like family than just fans, and Discovery Channel joins the Harris boys in thanking everyone for their wishes of support. Captain Phil is resting comfortably and is in the care of excellent doctors and nurses. We will update everyone on his progress”

Keep your spirits up boys, sleep is a brilliant healer. I know what it’s like to see your dad as he is, not knowing if he’ll pull thru. With Gods blessing, he will recover and be shouting at you both for arguing sooner than you think!
Our prayers remain with you all
My thoughts a prayers are with Pill and his family. May he have a speedy recovery and be able to joke and laugh with his family soon.

GB Phil:
Our prayers are with you, family and friends. Your tough love has probably saved yours kids and crews fingers, feet and lives. Godspeed, get back on your feet because wether ship or shore a captains work is never done.
PS: Besides someone has to kick Josh and Jakes a_s because you know they are not listening to anyone.
My prayers are with you at this time. Josh and Jake, I know that you both must be so afraid. Know that your dad is in the best of hands. Be there with him but remember you both need to take care of yourselves in order to care for dad. As a nurse, I know that it’s gonna be a tough road, but Phil is a tough man and strong-willed. That will help him alot in healing. Not a day goes by where I don’t say a special prayer for him.
Thank you for the updates so all of us fans can keep updated on Phil. I’m sure that many love him and are saddened by this. Appreciate the time taken to updating us.
In my thoughts & prayers,
Michelle

The deadliest catch community is here for you if you or your family need anything. Let that be said for every family in the United States. Together we can accomplish much. Prayer changes things but it needs action to get the job done.
My prayers are with your family. Through the show, we all feel like we know all of you. So, when something like this happens, we feel it as you do. Prayer is powerful and it works. Having watched every show since the start it seems as tho all the boats are part of my family! I love them all and feel fear or pain when tragedy happens. Was very scared when the clot happened & heart broken to watch as Phil waved to the CM as she went out without him. Last season reminding us that our captains are only human by allowing us to see them face an uncertain future & the stress of wheel house. I miss those that have come and gone from the show but for me it is the 4 that have been there the longest I watch the show for. I anxiously wait for the new seasons to begin to see these people I’m so attached to & this season is no different. =)
I wish & pray for a full recovery for Phil allowing him to continue to do all that he loves to do. Whether or not that includes crab fishing is to scary to think about. Phil is a fighter & to stubborn to let this thing stop him. This must be so stressful for the boys and CM crew but hang in there, you have a great many people here who are praying you all every day.
Thank you to whomever is keeping use informed on how Phil is doing. It is deeply appreciated. “Keeping you in my prayers, Phil.”
My prayers are with Phil and the boys. I love watching Deadliest Catch. Can’t wait for the new season. Will be praying that Phil,Jake and Josh will be back on board soon.
Our prayers are with you capt. Phil and to Josh and Jake. Hang in there he is tuff he will pull through this with flying colors, he is to bullheaded to let this take him!
Hang in there guys.
KLP

Jake and Josh,
My wife & I have watched you guys since the show first came out. We love you all. We feel as tho you guys are a part of us. We will miss your dad so terribly as we know you will. We have watched you guys grow from boys to men on the show and have no doubt how proud your dad is of you. You have your father in each of you, so dont ever doubt yourselves as far as handling his dreams. You can do it. your dad would want you to. Always remember, not only is your father with you, but your Heavenly Father is with you as well. Keep them both in your hearts, your dreams, and your lives. We love you guys and will be praying for you.

Josh and Jake, my heart is broken, I loved your dad too. He was my favorite Captain. He was a hoot! You could see he really loved you guys. I hope you can carry on the Cornelia Marie for your Dad. He wanted this for you. I pray for you and your family and the crew. I know he will be watching out for you both! Love to all of you and many prayers for you. Happy crabbing Phill !!!!! Sandi
I am sad to here Phil is no longer with us. Deadliest Catch will not be the same without him. Josh and Jake , know that he will be watching over you from heaven. God bless all of you.
Jake and Josh,
I’m so sorry to learn of you’re Dad’s death. A bright light has been extinguished. Hopefully there is a bright new star over the Bering Sea sky to watch over you both. I loved watching your family on the show. The torch has been passed to a new generation, you two. I hope to see you all continue on the CORNEILA MARIE as Captains next season. God Bless and take care. My prayers are with you both during this tragic time.
Sincerely, Nancy Samuelson
There are no rough sea’s or crabs near Dallas, but the Skipper and his boy’s made it seem like we were there. Rest in peace Captain Phil, and god bless your children.
josh and jake;
i was so sad to here about your dad .
i will miss him. he was my favorite skipper ,
on the deadliest catch. may he rest in peice .
with angels to guide him home ….
my prayers are with you both in this time of sadness. god bless every one .
Boys,
I’m so, so sorry for your loss. I have seen the bond between you and your dad and I cry for you. I understand the loss because I too lost a parent at a very young age. Just know this…I admire what you do for a living; just so I can have the occasional crab legs. My daughter who adores crab legs, felt badly because of what she saw risked for the simple pleasure. We mourn your loss and enjoy the show. Hope and prayers go out to the both of you and the crew of Deadliest Catch. May the waters be calm for you.
Love, Amy & Sarah
