Deadliest Catch Cornelia Marie Captain Phil Harris Passes Away
Feb 10th, 2010 by admin
Sadly the world lost a great person today…
Capt. Phil Harris, one of the signature personalities that made the reality series “The Deadliest Catch” such a gigantic breakout hit for the Discovery Channel, died Tuesday (February 9) at the age of 53. Harris died of complications from a stroke he suffered on January 29.
“Discovery mourns the loss of dear friend and colleague Captain Phil Harris,” a statement from the channel said. “He was more than someone on our television screen. Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him. We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart. We share our tremendous sadness over this loss with the millions of viewers who followed Phil’s every move.”
Jake and Josh Harris, the captain’s two sons, also issued a statement regarding their father’s passing. “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad — Capt. Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down. We will remember and celebrate that strength. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.”

good night Captain Phil rest easy
My heart goes out to the boys and Phil’s family(immediate and fishing). We have watched the show from the beginning and feel like a part has also been taken away from all of us viewers. May you soar high over the seas and watch your boys Phil.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the harris family and the cornelia marie as they deal with this tragedy. The world is a little less bright now, but heaven is rejoicing.

Good bye my friend
till we meet again.
The path we have shared
has seperated us.
You have been taken on
a different path
than I.
Good bye my friend
till we meet again.
May your path end
in the Promise land

for you.

So sorry to hear the news of Captain Phil’s passing. He was a big reason I watched the show. It won’t be the same without him. Prayers to your family during this difficult time.
This is such sad news…my thoughts and prayers are with Captain Phil’s family and his colleagues on the Cornelia Marie. He was such a wonderful person and Deadliest Catch will not be the same without him.
My deepest condolences go out to Capt. Phil’s family, both on the land and on the sea. He will be greatly missed. He was a great man who died believing in something he dearly loved. Rest easy Phil, may you soar with the eagles and watch over our boys at sea.
One tough SOB, he was a great character on a great show! He was a fighter and his family will fight with out him.
Just as the mist rises
Then vanishes way down the stream
Phil too has come and then left us
Today it seems like a dream
That he was so much part of our lives
That he lived and loved as we do
Now he has left our hearts and his home
Like the fish that a fisherman threw
Back in the stream to go on its way
And that is what Phil is doing today
To a bright new world, see the sun glitter
As he drifts from sight, though our tears are bitter
We know that he, like the salmon’s leap
Will always be there in our memories deep.
I have only just heard of this very sad news abt Capt Phil, all my love and heartfelt condonlances go out to his 2 great boys Hoh and Jake, his family, friends and all those brave men that put their lives as well as his own life on the line every day to do the job they loved so much.
From all the way over here in Glasgow, Scotland rest in peace Phil and god bless x x
The world lost a great man and an even greater father and fisherman. May he live on in our hearts and the hearts of his loved ones forever.
I apologise it should be Josh my phone mis-printed x
God Bless Capt. Phil I will miss ya. I did to loose my dad but one thing to remember one thing. He will always be inside both of you and always looking down on both of you from Heaven.
May God be with both of you and your families,
Fred Weishaupt
Thoughts and prayers go out to Captain Phil,s sons. We will all miss Captain Phil and please god keep all the other grabbing crew save while they are out at sea.
Phil has his wings now, and he likes them. My heart goes out to the family and dear friends of a good man. We will miss you Phil.
They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Captain Harris will be Missed . God just hauled in the best pot ever! RIP Phil.Fair winds and following seas Captain.
My condolences to Josh and Jake Harris on the passing of their father, mentor, counselor, and friend. I know that Phil is now watching over them while they carry this heavy sadness on their shoulders.
I have watched the show, even reruns because I enjoyed Captain Phil’s treatment of his son’s, crew and other captain’s. Captain Phil will be truly missed.
Whomever takes over the captain’s chair will have really big shoes to fill.
Captain Phil, may you rest in peace and find that big catch in the sky.
With great saddness, the world of crab fising lost a great person who was fun to watch on the show. He seemed gruff on some of the episodes, but deep down I’m sure he was a very caring and loving person, especially to his family and his crew.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew, cared and loved him. He will be greatly missed on the show. I’m sure he will be watching over his boys, crew and boat.
I wanted to say how sorry I am of the passing of Captain Phil Harris and I wanted to extend to his sons, Jake and Josh Harris, my deepest sympathies. Captain Harris was a dedicated and hard worker on his boat and didn’t allow any less from his crew. He will be deeply missed on the Deadliest Catch and from the fishing family on the Bering Sea. Rest in peace, Captain Phil!
OOP’s. Typo, should be fishing not fising.
I wanted to convey my sympathy to you and your family. Im from alaska and i know how close a community we are, how we all stick together, i hope that the community comes together in your time of loss for both of you… and your extended family… the world lost a great man, and may we always remember the better times that he shared with all of us, with the whole world watching…
So sorry to hear the news of Captain Phil’s passing. We wish Jake and Josh, family, crew of the Cornelia Marie and colleague’s all the best!
We will miss him on the show!
Phil, you always be in our hearts….we will deaply miss you…..my prayers are with the family, you all have a place in my heart….
Our condolences to the Harris boys on the passing of their father and to the crew of the Cornelia Marie on losing their beloved Captain. Thank you for sharing him with the world through the Deadliest Catch. He will be missed!
Prayers for comfort and peace during this
time of grieving on the loss of your father. It was so evident how much he loved his sons even when he was being “the boss”. God’s mercy and strength be with you and your loved ones.
My sympathy to Josh, Jake, and the entire Harris family. I know from personal expierience the depth of sadness that surrounds you at this time, and my heart goes out to you.
I have watched your show since it’s debut, and your Dad, is, and always has been my fav. When he fell sick a few years ago, I knew then, that everyday you all had together would be a blessing. I know you all took advantage of that. Spending as much time together as our busy lives allow. The memories you built will see you through. Right now, they might bring sadness, at first, but it is those memories that give you strength. help you to make sense of it all, and eventually bring smiles to your faces, and love in your life.
I admire your Father, he was a real man. An honest man. And a rare soul. He will be greatly missed!
“REST BE THINE,”
“SWEET MEMORIES, OURS!”

Rest in peace dear Captain Phil. You will be truly missed.
Now finale to the shore,
Now land and life finale and farewell,
Now Voyager depart, (much, much for thee is yet in store,)
Often enough hast thou adventur’d o’er the seas,
Cautiously cruising, studying the charts,
Duly again to port and hawser’s tie returning;
But now obey thy cherish’d secret wish,
Embrace thy friends, leave all in order,
To port and hawser’s tie no more returning,
Depart upon thy endless cruise old Sailor.
– Walt Whitman
Rest in Peace Captain…my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of a great man. My heart goes out to his boys and family. I know one thing God must have needed a good crab boat captain more than us. I was concerned when he fell ill. I knew it hurt him to miss the trip when he was told he couldn’t go due to his health. He will be greatly missed Captain Phil Harris and Captain Sig Hansen are and always will be my favorites.

to Jake, Josh and all the family and crew our thoughts are with you, he will not be forgotten RIP phil god bless
I just heard the news of Capt. Harris’ passing. I am still stunned as I sit here typing this note. I will grieve his demise for some time to come. As others have said, he was a big reason I watched the show. Hell, he’d even go toe to toe with Capt. Sig Hansen, if he felt like it, and Capt. Hansen is as tough and stubborn as Capt. Harris was. I stand in awe of the men that risk their lives as they do for the seafood that I, and so many others around the globe, enjoy. As durable as I was in my youth, there’s NO way I would’ve ever done a job like theirs for any amount of money. My hat is off to all the captains and their families, especially the loved ones of Capt. Harris. May you now find the wind at your back as you sail the calm and endless seas of the Great Beyond, skipper. There are none would can replace you, because you were one of a kind. R.I.P.
I have to say wondering if he was going to back and then he comes back then this happening its going to crush my heart along with a lot of the fans of the show. He will be missed and remembered by me and my friends who watched the show. R.I.P.
I remember a few years ago he was asked by the make a wish foundation to go and visit a sick kid was dying of cancer, of course Phil went. As Ken said, Phil was one of a kind and who ever takes his place has very big shoes to fill…. I hope the best for you Phil, you will NEVER be forgotten by the deadliest Catch community.
My heart goes out to the whole family of the Phil’s. He seemed to get a great person and really cared for other people. My prayers and thoughts got to the whole family. He is up there and is relaxing and watching everyone work their butts off. You will be in my prayers and prayers for your family. You will be missed and you were a great captain. Phil please R.I.P. and keep a watch over everyone else. I will continue to watch but it will be difficult with you. R.I.P.
I never had the pleasure of meeting or knowing Capt Phil but I always had a connection to the show and feel that I know many mariners like Phil as I was in the US Coast Guard for 24 years. Phil will be sadly missed by his fellow fisherman, family and fans. To Jake and Josh Your dad will be sailing calm seas now. Keep your chins up and continue your careers on the Bearing Sea. It will make you Dad proud. He will always watch over you and so will my fellow brothers in The USCG.
Smooth sailing

USCG Retired
Josh and Jake, may God hold you in the palm of his hand during this time of grief and sorrow. Your father will be missed by all who stand in aah of what you all do each day. Make him proud in your daily actions and your lust for life.
Let the wind blow to your back.
My heart goes out to everyone who knew this man. Even if I never met him I feel as if someone close and dear to me has died. We will all miss Capt. Phil rest in peace .
To the Harris Family,
My heart goes out to you all. My family enjoyed watching your dad and you boys kick some tail during both of the crab seasons.
May god be with all of you, our hearts and prayers are extended to you. And to Captain Phil you will be missed dearly, and now may you sail the calm skies above looking down on us.
Although I know there are no words I can say to make the loss any easier. My thoughts and prayers are with Captain Phil’s family, friends, and fans.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Phil and the other Captains. Thank you for that escape.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Phil as well as to all his fans. Phil was my favorite captain & I will miss his chainsmoking and his quick foul language wit. Jake and Josh,
I would like to send my sorrow and my sadness for the loss of your dad, he was a matter of a fact kinda man. He is the kind of person I loved, I love someone that tells you exactally what they are thinking . , instead of beating bushes. We were all blessed for having him in our lives, for as long as we did. I have ALWAYS wanted to see Alaska, and thanks partly to your dad, I did get to see some of it through (your dads eyes). I wish I could be there, he was just the kind of man that you had to like. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in Alaska (I know you are all family there). I have no idea what I could possibly do to help, but if anyone can think of anything, please e-mail me at chesneesherrie@aol.com.

Our thoughts and prayers goes out to the Harris Family. I know that he love his boys just by watching the show. The deadliest catch is one of my show I love to watch.
I feel like I have lost a family member. You watch these guys and root for them when the fishing is good and get all worked up when it’s bad. You get very concerned when someone gets hurt because you feel mentally close to these guys.
Crab fishing has lost a great man. We have lost a friend. my heart felt prayers go out to Capt. Phil’s family. May he rest in peace.
From one fishing family to another, we are so saddened by the loss of Captain Phil. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Harris family & his friends in the fishing community. We have watched with admiration for the work that these men do. He will be sadly missed by so many. Rest in Peace Captain Phil……………..
Jake and Josh we are so sorry to hear the sad news on your dads passing. We have watched the show from day one your dad taught you all the values in life that a dad should .To be a friend when a friend needs you. How to pull of and to take the best pranks, the day he caught the truck I thought I was going to die laughing. We remember the day he put the pipe on the Northwestern then filled it full of garbage. He should have written a book how to prank your friends,Cornelia Marie style. To be a man of your word, but most of all to work hard to earn your money and to put some away because big things break. We are very proud of you boys and look forward to seeing you on the Cornelia Marie.R.I.P. Phil we will miss you but remember you forever. Jeff and Joyce New Hampshire
We are so sad to hear of Captain Phil’s death. We love the show and Captain Phil was one of our favorites! We love his wicked sense of humor and the way he fathers his boys…he obviously loves them much and wants to grow to be strong independent men. Gosh, we will miss seeing him and hope their is a tribute to him on the show. Our thoughts and prayers go to all who knew him personally as well as to all of us who only knew him on TV, but loved him just as well!
First of all I want to extend my sincere condolences in the loss of your father. I am relatively new to the show, but have fallen in love with it. I was so looking forward to the new season and then I heard of Phil’s passing and it took the wind out of my sails. He was the most colorful character on the show with his steely personality and wit. I still look forward to the new season and hope that they will have a great remembrance of Phil as I know that they in the process of filming right now. Rest in Peace Captain Phil. You will not be forgotten!!!!!

Dear Josh & Jake,
It has been two days since I heard about Phil’s passing. You two have been so lucky to have had a father who loved you both so much. It will be hard to continue on but you know your Dad would want you to continue working the boat. He gave both of you guys a great lasting legacy, use it well and keep up his work. He will always be watching you. Watching the show and even reading the book, I feel that I was given a small window into your lives. I enjoy the show and will continue to watch. Keep crabbing and remember him. God Bless to both of you and the Cornelia Marie. He will be missed.
When I heard of Capt.Phils passing,I uncovered my bagger, and went on a 20 minute run for Phil.hell with the ice and salt, and 25 degree weather.Puting it in the wind whether a boat or a bike.Gonna miss ya Capt.Phil.
My compasion and love flows out to Captain Phil’s family and friends, I have lost both my parents when they were the same age as Phil, so I can relate to the shock and terrible numbness you must all be feeling, 53 is way too young. Remember him fondly and always with a smile. The brightest stars always shine for the shortest time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very sad time! I loved Captain Phil. He will be missed.
I send you this poem.
Don’t Grieve For Me For Now I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seems all to brief;
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free
God Bless you all!
I just saw the news about Cspt Phils passing… As a landlocked newfoundlander I have watched the show since the beginning and the show gave me the boost of the sea I needed. A person like Phil Harris was a rare individual who brought alot of fun and real heart to the world… to his family and all of the people in the fleet my sincere condolesces and my family’s prayers go out to you all… As a nurse I know how hard it is to lose someone but he was doing what he loved with the people he loved.. stay strong to his spirit… calm seas and full traps RIP CAPT PHIL YOU WILL BE MISSED
I just saw the news last night that Phil Harris was gone and could not believe it. Just the other day I had talked to my mom and asked her when Deadliest Catch would be starting soon. Capt. Phil Harris was and always will be one of our favorites, and our hearts go out to the crew of the Cornilia Marie and the rest of the Deadliest Catch family. To Josh and Jake “Do not be discouraged or afraid for I your lord will be with you always” Joshua 1:9. I will tell you both something that someone once told me after I had lost my second grandfather to a heart attack. That he and my other grandfather were were up in heavan swapping tales, playing cards, and sharing a cold one. I’m sure you father is doing much of the same as he watches over you two boys.
May the sun shine on thy face and the wind be at your back, safe journey and blessed be Capt. Phil Harris.
Vicky

We have just found out that captain phil has passed on. Our deepest sympathy for his family and friends. We loved watching deadliest catch and captain phil and his crew(family) were our favourite . R.I.P captain Phil Harris may there be fair weather, calm seas , and good crab fishing for you in the hereafter . Your loss will be deeply felt.
Josh and Jake , my heart goes out to you both. As I also have lost my father but to lung cancer ,I ask the both of you to please stop smoking , as I feel it may have contributed to his health . I didn’t know your dad, but I can honestly say ” I sure do miss him”. I will be constantly thinking about you both and praying for you to be strong men for your father as well as OUR FATHER in Heaven. I am compiling an assortment of your fathers pictures to put in my shop were I work . again I only knew your father from the show , but I will always remember him and I wil ALWAYS miss him. Brother Tony
Josh and Jake, what a terrible nightmare. You can stand proud of your dad knowing that he was admired by millions of people, watched and loved by every Deadly fan. Such an inspiration to others, noone will ever match him but we are all left with many fantastic memories of him. My heart is with you both. Be strong…. whatever that is.
I’m from Oz and am soo saddened to learn of the passing of one of the greats on the water. Capt Phil Harris was by far my favourite on the high seas with his quick wit and sarcasm and i will always remember him for his chain smoking and energy drinking!!!! Man he cud drink!!! But i have to say no-one loved his boys more than he did and to Jake and Josh and to all their families my thoughts and prayers are with you all.. Its a sad day when u have to say goodbye to a Captain and that he certainly was. He’s with the Angels now and looking down on his boys with new found respect and admiration as they cope with the loss of their Father. May the world be your oyster and may the sun shine upon u boys always.
God speed Captain Sir.
I have such sadness in my heart- we will miss Phil dearly. We felt so close to him, yet never actually met him. He is the same age as my husband, and we have boys about the same age as Jake and Josh- and the father-son relationships were so very similar to my husband and his boys. I think that is why we could relate with Phil, all the time. Our thoughts and prayers are with Phil, Jake, Josh and all of Phil’s family- including his “fishing” family.
As I read some of the other comments, I have tears in my eyes- Phil has touched so many lives!
Phil was such a great man, he will be remembered for years to come- and I know that God has embraced him with open, loving arms. And hey, if you boys ever make it to Colorado, we’d love to have you!!
Phil, You Rock! We miss and love you!
We were so excited that they were showing the Deadliest Catch today untill we saw the bottom of the screen that said Phil had gone on. My deepest sympathy to the boys and the crew. Captain Phil will be really missed on the show and hey he did what he loved best and got his wish, ” Always thought I would die on this boat” Well Phill you got the boat in heaven to Captain now. Sail on!!!!!! We will miss you!!!
I just wanted to tell Phil’s entire family that I have continued to pray that God’s peace will rest on your heavy hearts. To you Josh and Jake…make your father proud by continuing to be the man he was. Right now is the time to pull yourselves up by your bootstraps!
I wanted to add that I certainly hope to continue seeing you guys on Deadliest Catch. My family has enjoyed the glimpse into your lives.
I wish the best to his family and his friends . He died doing what he loved….. God Bless
My deepest sympathies go out to Phil’s family. Phil exemplified what the Deadliest Catch was all about. He will be sorely missed by all fans of the show.
We were saddened to hear of the untimely passing of our favorite Captain. We wish to express our deepest sympathies to Phil’s family and dearest friends. You will be in our thoughts now and in the days to come.
Vale Capt Phil,
We all miss you no end. our prayers are with you and the boys. May your leadership and vision be followed by both Josh and his brother, may they one day be competent to follow in your tracks, whether with Cornelia Marie, or some other boat, and preferably in sister boats with both being skippers.
We will evewr miss your presence, which is with us until we also follow
I just went on-line to find out when the new season start date was and was shocked to learn about Phil’s passing. Boys, I’m so sorry to hear this and know it is real hard on you. He was a jewel on the show and I enjoyed watching his antics and his relationship with the both you. My prayer for you is that eventually the sadness will turn to remembrances of joy. They will in time.
I was saddened when I heard that one of the captains had passed and when I saw which one I was saddened even more. He is a good man and great father. He never played favorites on the boys when I saw the programs. He expected a lot of hard work from them just as much as for himself. He will be greatly missed but will be watching over his boys when they go to see to catch those crabs, so watch your step boys. He will be seated next to GOD in which he will ask to watch over his boys and make them safe. Also he loved that crew like his own so he will also watch over them and pray they get great catches to provide for their families or if not married for themselves. He would not want you to grieve very long but to go catch crabs. GOD bless you all and I am very sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss.R.I.P. Captain Phil
We were very saddened to learn of phills passing, We had lived 27 years in the Seattle area and had loved the water and since moving away from the coast Our only connection was watching phill and his two sons on the Deadliest Catch and all the other ship Great Captains and Great Crews . We had tears in our eyes after hearing about Phill Going to Heaven, Our hearts go out to his family and crew of the Cornelia Marie , our prayers go out to jake and josh and the onboard family and all the great fishing crews and friends !God bless you all ! GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU ALWAYS. MY PRAYERS WILL BE WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS YOU FISHED WITH. GOD BE WITH YOU NOW CAPTAIN PHIL!!!!!
I grew up watching the show, Captain Phil will be missed. May your soul rest in peace.
My heart sank faster then a ship on the rocks when I learned about Captain Phil and the void that the world will now need to fill. As for Jake and Josh, I know what it is like to lose both parents when they were still young and full of life. I know grief all to well.
What I wish for both of you is to learn to appreciate each other and share what your Father, (aka Captain Phil) taught you about the rough waters that will be ahead, both on the Cornelia Marie and in life. You are the men in the family that will have big shoes to fill and it will take both of you to do that. You will be our next generation to admire. Blessings!
So very sad to hear of the passing of phil, he was a top man,
I hope jake & josh remember all the great things and to thank that they got to spend an awful lot of time with their dad, all precious.
I sincerely wish your family all the very best & i hope you carry on the family tradition, stay well and stay safe
COLIN UK
My sincerest condolences to all of you who worked and loved Phil Harris, he was the real deal & I enjoyed watching him the most. I have total respect for the work you do and am myself a ‘wimp’, I’d never get out in that cold ocean for all the $$$ in the world! And snow to boot? There should not be snow on the ocean …..it’s against my grain!
So the show continutes on, me and numerous friends watch every chance we get, even the reruns! May God be with you. You have taught me a wonder life lesson. ~DS~
HEY MATE ITS A GREAT SHOW AND I LOVE IT. AND SO SO SORRY TO HERE ABOUT THE PASSING OF U PHIL YOU AND SIG ARE MY 2 BEST CAPTINS AND I AM GOIN TO MISS YOU!!!!!!!!! REST IN PEICE
Josh and Jake:
What does not kill us makes us stronger. Josh: You are the man of the family now. Watch over your brother even if he doesn’t think he needs you. Jake: Find a sence of peace and guide your life as Phil would have wanted.
And when life gets you down, just look for the crab farts and keep on fishin”.
Jake and Josh I am very sorry for the loss of your Dad. I love the show and have been a fan for many years. In a way I kind of watched the two of you grow up. I lost my Dad on July 20th 2008 so I can feel your pain. You boys need to work together to get through this. Remember your Dad will always watch over you so make him proud for you both should be. He was a strong man and he raised you to be strong too. So stick together and stay together. My advice to you is this:
When things don’t work out
Don’t just sit and pout
When things aren’t nice
Please take my advice
Pull down your pants
And slide on life’s ice!
Your Dad is at peace now, so make him proud, by being the men he raised, and let your love for each other shine through the clouds.
May your strings be full of crabs and may the sun always shine on your ship. Smooth sailing boys and again you have my deepest sympathy.
Take care,
Dr M

Here’s to you Phil Harris, My husband and I watched the profram religiously and loved your hard nose attitude. Yet you were honest not only with you crew, but with you sons as well. Let’s hope that with your passing Josh gets the help he needs with his drug addition. Sail on Phil, there is a lot of sea for you to see. God Bless You!
God speed Captain Harris. May you find peace and calm seas. I can’t remember the last time I cried like that for a TV show. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Phil was my favorite on the show. You just knew the first time you saw him that he was an honest and giving person. When he hot mad, it never lasted long, and he was always understanding of the person who had raised his blood pressure. Even though we never met him, he made an impact on our lives by just being himself. Thank you Phil, for being a such a great person. You will be missed!! Jake and Josh: I hope that you can be great men like your Dad was.
So sad to say goodbye to Captin Phil, we all feel like we knew him. He made us laugh and will be remebered and missed dearly. Jake and Josh my heart goes out to you for your loss, you could clearly see how much your Dad loved you both and was beyond proud of you! My thoughts are with you and your family.
i just want to say i will miss Captian Phil. most of all his whole attitude. i loved the fact he spoke his mind & if you didnt like it then thats your problem.he sure put a smile on my face. i hope josh & jake carry on the crab fishing legacy. my heart goes out to not just the family & friends but the entire fleet.he will be dearly missed. we love you Phil!
EVERYONE’S FRIEND
Those who were privileged to know Captain Phil
Knew that his style, was keeping it real
If he didn’t like you, you’d know right away
He would just simply, have nothing to say
His first love was the Cornelia Marie
But his heart belonged to his boys and the sea
Birdhouses, corvettes, and Harleys, of course
And he sure liked the ladies, after divorce
He made funny faces, all of the time
Captain Phil’s laugh, was one of a kind
Who can forget his favorite drink
Duck Farts made him, forget to think
He loved his cigarettes, and going bare foot
Nervous or excited, his leg always shook
A man of honor, from beginning to end
He’ll always be remembered as everyone’s friend
