Harris Boys Release Statement as Captain Phil Shows Sign’s Of Improvements

UPDATE February 3, 2010: No one ever said Captain Phil Harris wasn’t tough. Today, dad showed some good signs of improvement, squeezing our hands and even summoning his trademark Captain’s bluntness by telling the doctors and nurses, “Don’t f*ck up.” We are encouraged but still very cautious. It is a long road ahead, but its made more bearable and comforting knowing your thoughts and prayers are with us. We are strong because of you — our fans. Thanks and we will continue to update you as best we can going forward.

For those of you who have askedabout sending a get well card to Phil, a family friend has set up an address where cards will be delivered to Phil at a later date…

Thank you for taking the time to share with us when you have so much else going on. I know it’s a great help to your Dad that you both are there with him. I’ve been praying that he would show some signs of improvement. We’ll continue praying for his full recovery, and for God’s comfort and support to the Harris family, loved ones and crew.

Thank you so much for updating everyone on Capt Phil’s recovery. Phil must be feeling a wee bit better ~ Might be a bit on the rough side and bossy when it comes to expressing his feelings but he’s for real~ Tells it like it is and comes from the heart~

God bless the Dr’s and Nurses that are taking care of him. You got your hands full~

Josh, Jake and family…Prayers and thoughts for your dad’s recovery…God bless and keep positive…may not be sailing with the Cornelia Marie any time soon but will always be on the boat in Spirit~

Josh and Jake, Thanks so much for letting us know how your dad’s doing. He’s one tough guy, and I know that this won’t stop him. I say this with all my heart and soul.You need to start to take care of you health.You Must quit smoking.I almost died a year ago and if I had not quit smoking I would not be writing to you now.so PLease heed my call .Jake and Josh need you to be the strongest that you have ever been and to kick butts literally !!!
Cold turkey is the only way to go and you will have you health and Jake and Josh will have thier dad .Hard work I know but please don’t give up.we all need you and love you.

I just wanted to say how much i admire the show and capt phil, you could tell he did what he did out of love not just money, and sure could tell he loved his boys and crew. i never missed an eposide i was sad to see him ill, but i use to yell at him to quick smoking lol * wonder if he heard me* well you guys tell him to get better or i will come up and play nurse and trust me boys he would have met his match lol…but all in all give him my love and tell him to get better so we can see him soon. love to you all,.,

Hey everyone, your fans on the East Coast are all wishing you well. We are thankful for the updates and are praying for you everyday. Phil take each day just one day at a time the stubborn one’s are the best and end up teh best. Keep up the great work.

Thanks to all that keep us updated. Josh and Jake pretty soon the good capt’n will be attempting to trottle your backsides once again. Keep up the faith.

Glad to hear that Captain Phil feels like cussin the doc’s. {smile} Another fan encouraged you to give up the smokes. I smoked for 39 years and finally gave them up. No matter how quit, just QUIT!!!! After hearing the news regarding Phil, my heart broke. I was brought back to the show where all the Capt’s were sitting at the round table having a ball and telling all their stories…which I could listen to for hours. I kept watching Phil’s face as he told of his near miss after experiencing the blood clot. He said that he wasn’t out of the woods yet since he had lost his mother to the same fate. I too hoped that he was all better. I know he’s tough & if anything can get him through this it is his love for Josh & Jake. They are his reason for living. Praying for you all here in Texas.

I have been following this show since day one and I have always loved to watch the fact that Phil not only does what he Loves everyday but also gets to do it with his two sons. I have admired Capt. Phil every step of the way and can’t wait to seem him back out doing what he does best with the people he loves most.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Phil. He will be missed by all who new him personally and watched him on the show. My wife and i were big fans of the show. The Cornelia Marie was our favorite. We will pray that God will show the family and friends comfort and the understanding of how to get through this.

Your Father was a wonderful Captain. Just remember he always
wondered if he tought you boy’s enough. Well now it’s time to put what your Father has tought you to the test. I know it won’t be easy without him, but you all are strong boy’s and you all need to keep up the Cornelia Marie. The sea was his life and
now it has become your’s. I know your Father is looking down on

I just wanted to say. Captain Phil will be greatly missed. He is in my heart and I am praying for the boys to be safe and stay on the right path. He was a great man and have taught them right. Phil just wants to know his boys are okay. Good luck boys, he will be watching you.
