Deadliest Catch Bitter Tears
Jul 15th, 2009 by admin
On board the Wizard the newest greenhorn continues to be a problem for the skipper. After barely showing any presence on deck he comes up to the wheelhouse and let’s Captain Keith know that his younger brother is shipping off to Iraq and he needs to be home with him. Captain Keith although irritated is also relieved that he will have one less person to worry about. He soon then tells him that he doesn’t want him on deck anymore as he can’t be trusted since his mind isn’t in it. He’d rather send in off the deck than worry about an accident on deck. Unfortunately for the crew, they’ll have to work in the bitter cold temperatures a man short on deck, however, at least the pots are coming up with decent catches. Of course they still need to worry as they are fishing close to the ice pack and the ice floes are quickly descending on their gear.
For the crew of the Cornelia Marie life is certainly good. Having managed to get the Wizard to move their gear from on top of where Captain Phil left his, they are enjoying strong numbers. Of course you might not notice exactly how happy the family and crew are over breakfast as they are yelling and complaining about each other, but for the Harris family, it’s just another traditional breakfast. Once on deck, a healthy string of 600 or more keepers per pot has everybody enjoying themselves.
Last week Captain Andy on the Time Bandit decided to test their luck by leaving their gear close to the edge of the ice pack. In order to keep it from being dragged by the ice he had his crew remove one of the buoys attached to it, and now is left searching for a single green buoy in heavy seas. Finally they spot it and using their navigation equipment are able to dial in to the rest of the string. The weather is nasty and cold they they all seem to be working very hard, except for Russell that is. In between pots, he has figured out how to time it just right to get a few minutes in the sauna to warm up. Of course, nothing goes on unnoticed to the wheelhouse and it seems like Russel may just end up being the extra man they were trying to sort out and off the boat. After a long haul the crew lays down for what is supposed to be a 12 hour break, however as the ice pack closes in on the pots, the entire crew is awakened to haul and stack the gear to move to a safer locations. Apparently there just isn’t meant to be such a break on the relentless Bering Sea.

To Jake,
Our hearts are breaking for your loss. I recently lost
someone so very precious to me, so I can validate everything that you are feeling & going through.
Please accept our deepest sympathy & know that one day you will meet again. It’s how I get through every minute of every day.
Much Respect
Nikki
I HAVE to say that after watching nearly every episode from day one, that I think Edgar “handjob” Hansen is an insensitive, emotionally mistreated and crippled piece of crap who thinks he is unquestionably blessed with H U G E nuts, When in fact he picks on all, because in fact his balls are the size of peas! What a pu**y! Grow a pair “ED”!!!!!!!
Damn Joe…Don’t hold back if there’s something on your mind don’t bet around the bush.
Edgar is a hell of a guy, that’s who just who he is. He’s not going to sit there and whine and tell you about his complex emotions and his feeling. C’mon! He works hards than anyone and makes sure everyone on deck is safe. Does he work everyone hard, yes but it’s his brother that’s running the boat. Besides whatever the crew has to do he is working right along side them.
I think he’s a class act who just prefers to keep his personal side to himself especially when he has cameras being aimed on him every hour of the day.
My heart hurts for you and your family. What you said to your Mom was right and beautiful, for now she runs in the sweet fields of the Lord. Please know that peace comes from Him, I know first hand. Read John 14:27 and claim it as your own
At a time when it seems everything on television is just a bunch of crap rigged for the masses, I thank you guys for bringing some legitimacy, sincerity and honor back to television.
I have never seen a more incredible episode than “Bitter tears” last night. Jake, My heart goes out to you and know that you are not alone. You have millions of fans praying for you and hoping for the best.
And if their is anybody on television that I would want my children to look up to (sports world included) it would be to the crew of all the boats.
Jake, Our thoughts are with you and your family. It is NEVER easy to lose a Loved one. It gets easier but always hurts and never goes away. You will always think of her. That will keep her memory alive. She is running now like never before laughing and enjoying heaven. She will be watching over you as you head out to sea. She is your Guardian Angel now and will be with you by your side forever and then some. Love her always as she will love you forever and then some.

Jake and the crew of the Northwestern,
I have been a fan of the show since the first episode and have found myself praying for each and everyone of you. However, I have never been so moved to immediately pray for Jake and the pain he is going through. However, at that same moment I was praying (praising) the character of every man on that ship. I was raised to believe the most important thing a person can do in life is live up to the name they will carry throughout that life time. Every crew member lived up to that extremely high standard. May God continue to bless and keep you safe. Now a personal note as a cardiology nurse, Sig take better care of yourself!!!
Respectfully

I think you are so fortunate to have such a loving an caring crew.My thoughts and Prayers are with you.

I do sincerly hope you and your family can find happiness and peace in the memories and love that you created as a family with your sister the memories and joy she brought to you and your family is something special you will always be able to carry with you she may b gone but nothing can take the special way she touched your life
jake,
as someone who actually knew your sister, my heart hurts thinking about hearing that news…. when i heard through a mutual friend, i really had to work to not lose it…. she was an amazing person that just lit up the room when she walked in and laughed… very sorry she had to go that young, but maybe it was for the better… now she’s watching over all of us and probably laughing at what we’re all up to…. i know i would be….
keep your head up and think of the good times i’m sure you had with her.
I work 7p-7a in a hospital and have unfortunately been working several Tuesday nights and missing new episodes. Luckily my Respitory therapist friend is a huge Catch fan like me and called me when they aired”Bitter Tears” late night. Jake, May you find peace in God,family and crewmates. My heart just broke when you spoke with your Mom on the phone, trying to be strong for her. What a wonderful young man you are. Capt.Sig, you are a man of great character and heart, and it really showed in taking care of Jake. Now, as for
post #2 Joe van whatever, YOu are entitled to your opinion, even if it’s wrong! Man the heck up, dude. Edgar Hansen is a wonderful person, great husband and father. Kinda shies away from drama and emotional stuff, but underneath the armour beats the heart of a teddybear!I’m sure of it. He can’t afford to not be a hardass! It’s serious business out there and very dangerous. Can’t afford to be driven by emotions, have to have your head in the game all the time. Edgar Hansen is a hell of a man!
To Jake,
My condolences to you and your family,
.To the crew of the Norwegian, you are truly brothers and I admired the way you handled Jake with his sadness and brotherly concern. Your crew is the best….
Jake,
We are very sorry to hear about your sister, I know all to well how that feeling is too to lose a loved one. I lost my Mom to cancer one week before shipping to Iraq in 2003, I wasn’t there when she passed away, but my Dad, brothers, sisters and family were all there with her until the end. I know there is a big empty space in your heart right now because of it, But I know in time it will heal and you are right, she is in a much better place and won’t be suffering any more. Keep your chin up and rememeber your doing a wonderful job out there, and also for what your doing for your family back home. My family and I would like to send our condolences to you and your family as well Jake, may God be with you.
Sincerely,
The Fitch Family

I am watching this episode and I gave up fighting back the tears. Jake, I am praying for you, your entire family that you all take solace knowing that your family member watches over you.
May God protect you always as He looks after those who look after others.
Jake, i know it is hard to think positive when someone you love passes away. but just think now you have another angle whatching over you.
Could someone post the song Father find me now on here i cant find it
Jake,
It’s hard losing a sibling. I lost my older brother who was just 30 years old 3 years ago. No good byes, no final words, just that phone call at 5 in the afternoon telling me my brother passed away. It is hard but time heals. And if you are as lucky as me you will talk to her every chance you have to close your eyes and sleep. Deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Dear Andy & John,
It was great to see you yesterday on “Better Connecticut.”
I am not only a big fan of your show, but also wrote and sang the theme song to “Better Connecticut” that you commented on during your spot, which was a big thrill for me!
I’d like to send you a couple of copies of my band’s Remember September new cd, which includes the track “Better This Way” when it becomes available! (around January 1st)
Best Regards,
Jay Schod
