Deadliest Catch Song “Farther Find Me Now” by Coal Men
Jul 26th, 2009 by admin
After plenty of requests for the song that played during the “Bitter Tears” episode when Jake got the call that his sister had passed away, we were able to dig up the song as well as a video made by a fan of the show. Enjoy…
Awesome tune ,awesome show, awesome people ,God bless you all that go down to the water
My son and I went to Painesville, OH (on Lake Erie) last weekend for a music festival and Captain John of the Time Bandit was there with his son. We played the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald for them. They really are cool guys. We were inspired to write and record the song “Greenhorn” which we put on our website. (Not sure if it’s too sentimental, but it was fun recording it.) It’s funny how a tv show can inspire a middle aged desk jocky but those seas are so unbelievable that you really have to admire guys who brave them for a living.
Isn’t it
Father,Find me Now? It sounds like it. Farther doesn’t compute.
I can see why you would think so bt it’s definately “Farther Find Me Now”
Farther Find Me Now (album)
I have been watching this season, and it seems that it is a really ruff year. All I can say is you guys have got to be some of the braviest ,toughest guys I can lmagine. There is no way I could begin to do to what you do everyday for a living. May GOD bless and keep you daily.
I thought this song was pretty awesome for that particular episode(bitter tears)…The guy singing kinda has the Bruce Springsteen sound…Whoever picked the song, good job!!!;0)
This is a fitting song to the show it would be nice if this song could be played toward the end of every episode as well as the end of each season of “The Deadliest Catch” it is suitable for this program in more ways than I can Describe, THANK YOU for the video as well as using the song, to the artists…Wonderful Song thank you for recording it.Hopefully the people who are a part of the show producers, writers etc will read this and think about using the song in future episodes of the show.Thank you to the person who made the video it absolutely incredible. To the Captains of the fishing Vessels “Cornelia Marie”,Time Bandit”, “Northwestern”, “Wizard” and the other vessels of the show “BE SAFE… AND BE CAREFUL OUT THERE”
We’ve been watching Deadliest Catch for a few years now and have always enjoyed it immensely. However, if someone told me before the “Bitter Tears” episode that it would be this heartwrenching, I would have thought them crazy. I mean, it’s a fishing show…right? Well, when we watched that fateful episode, my eyes watered up a bit, for sure. But nooooo, that wasn’t enough. When they played the song “Farther Find Me Now” I completely lost it (so did my husband but he’ll never admit it). Awesome song and awesome show! I am forever a fan!
I look forward to Tuesday nights. I’m addicted to the show. Great job to all.
Healthy Regards,
Rebecca Johnston
The best show on T.V. and a great song to go with it.
Prayers and good wishes to Jake….
I can relate to all the captains & crew on all crabbying vessels,
I worked on a ” floating cannery” out of Kodiak. It was called “the reefer king” I got on it in Kodiak. my prayers to all and to Jake!!!
I was born and rasied in Seward. I have relatives in False pass- the Duskins. my Mothers sister is Nellie Duskin.
Song is awesome. Had to find out about it right away as I was crying through the end of the show (Bitter Tears). I’ve meant to comment on this show for a few weeks. Seen the promo’s for it for years but never thought I’d like it…”it’s a show about fishing for crying out loud”. I do NOT fish! Caught an episode on a weekend when they were running a marathon of the show and I was HOOKED! Love the show! Good job. The song by the way is now one of my favorites.
This song gives me goosebumps every I hear it. I am not often moved to tears but the show (Bitter Tears) had me bawling my eyes out; been watching the show for couple of years now and they guys all feel like family
I love this show also. But lets not forget about the men and women of the armed forces who die for us so we all could live the lives we chose. Whether its braving the Bering or bartending in Boston. The song would go great with scenes from Iraq or Afghanistan.
My life doesn’t revolve around the TV, but I’ve been watching Deadliest Catch religiously since day one. As a captain I have TREMENDOUS respect for the guys and what they do to make a living. I also had the opportunity to see the Coal Men at the Beer Barrel Saloon at Put-In-Bay (South Bass Island, Lake Erie) last month. These guys are an incredible trio of musicians. If you ever get the chance, they are a must see!
Fish on my brothers!

I hail from a fishing community on the east coast of canada, my great-grandfather was lost at sea. I have so much respect for those guys out there on the sea! God Bless you all! My thoughts and prayers are with Jake

This is a response to a comment left by “Don” on July 31, 2009.
Don…this is a message board for a TV show, not a place for political commentary. The impetus for this thread was a very moving story of loss which clearly touched a nerve in the show’s fan base. The song is beautiful and haunting and speaks to anyone who has lost a loved one, regardless of the circumstances.
You, unfortunatley, decided to use this forum to wave the flag….right in my face. I think I speak for all Americans when I say that we support the troops, regardless of our opinions on how they got there. But that doesn’t mean that every opportunity to make a public comment should be used to promote nationalism. I recently lost a friend to cancer. How would people react if I made the comment “Let’s not forget all those who fight the valiant battle against a disease we should have found a cure for years ago, but it’s too big of an income generator for drug companies. ”
The same way I reacted to your comments. It is not relevant to this discussion.
People who watch this show find something in it that makes them feel connected to these brave fishermen who risk their lives daily. Does it make them any less noble than a soldier? No. Their stories are the backbone of this nation…hardworking people who give everything they have, sometimes including the ultimate sacrifice, in order to provide a life for themselves and for their families.
My hubby & I as well have been religious watchers of the “Deadliest Catch” and we love every episode. You are very tough men to do the jobs you do! I have to tell you though, when the song followed Jake’s loss, I rewound the show about 40 times to write down the song, singer, album, etc. It is an amazing song and as I read the blogs, everyone else loves it too. God bless you & your family Jake! And everyone of you on any fishing boat in the ocean … please be careful!!! We can’t wait for the next season, thank you!
to all who sail and work in the bering sea, been watching the show for years and it is unbelievable what ye go through, im from ireland and we have seen bad weather but nothing compeared to that, my prayers go out to jake and his family, great chose of song, be safe out there guys and all come home safe…

Thanxs for the special feelings durning the song, I know my Dad heard it to!!!! Judee Becker, Missing Wisconsin Bad!!!
Simply amazing!!!! God bless you all!!!
To Jake and Josh
Going out crabbing so soon after your father’s death must be really hard. Then to have to act tough for the show is another thing. I also imagine the other ships crews and captians will be feeling the same way. But to the selfish captian Keith, I imagine you would like to take back a few of your rude comments to Phil. Especially when you fished pot for pot on top of Phil and then tried to blame your brother (always someone else’s fault). I am really going to miss Phil just like Sig he told it the way it was whether you liked it or not….
