Fishing Vessel: NORTHWESTERN
Sig Hansen revels in the strategy and competition of fishing. He has been a captain for the past 18 years, and is the eldest of the three brothers who operate the family-owned vessel. A fourth-generation Norwegian fisherman, Sig tends to be very superstitious. The Seattle, Wash., resident operates the Northwestern with help and unsolicited opinions from his younger brother, Deck Boss Edgar Hansen, and his more reserved brother, Deckhand Norman Hansen.
Working alongside the Hansen brothers as deckhands are Nick Mavar Jr. and Matt Bradley, both of whom have been a part of the crew for several years.

The F/V Northwestern is by far the most fun boat to watch on the show! I love your humor and antics. Of course, none of you are bad to look at either! Thanks for making me laugh and cringe. Chelsea in Maine

The Northwestern is by far my favorite boat to watch. There seems to be a camaraderie amongst the deckhands and it’s cool to watch them all participating in an exciting catch. I’ve asked myself…….could I do that? On one condition…..you have my ride home waiting the minute I say get me the heck out of here!!!!! I love the challenge you all are faced with. There are times when I can see in the eyes of the captain that he’s worried about the safety of his men, is this real? The episodes where you’re fighting a ice storm are my favorites; to think that there are men out there trying to make a living in those conditions is uncomprehendable while I am snug in the comforts of my home. May God continue to watch over you all and your families. Go Sig!!!!!! Bring them in big boy!
love you Sig!!!! you to Jake Anderson dont give up i have a lot of faith in you!!!!!!! also the guy that almost went to jail i love you keep fighting!!!

Just wanted to send my heart-felt sympathy to Jake for the loss of his sister Chelsea. It was a very moving episode to see the human side of everyone on the boat as they helped Jake get to where he needed to be.
I love Jake and cried with him last night. Glad the Northwestern is going to keep him aboard. Love all those guys.
Jake my heart is with ya…..
Chelsea was so lucky and blessed to have you as a brother and better yet,…a best friend. You are a wonderful, sensitive man. Please don’t let life change you. We are all sending you good energy and prayers.
